Yellow Cupcakes

Simple desserts like these yellow cupcakes (made with this recipe) topped with chocolate frosting are basic yet delicious. In true New York form, I rummaged the internet to find the perfect recipe to replicate the chocolate buttercream icing from Magnolia Bakery. Talk about a treat! I even have enough left to use again (or to just dunk my finger in for a quick, sweet tooth cure). Unfussy and low maintenance can be just as tasty as treats that require blow torches, fondant or woven pie crusts. My next endeavor, crème brulee, is  bound to get a little tricky, so I enjoyed the simplicity while I could. Stay tuned!
