Simple desserts like these yellow cupcakes (made with this recipe) topped with chocolate frosting are basic yet delicious. In true New York form, I rummaged the internet to find the perfect recipe to replicate the chocolate buttercream icing from Magnolia Bakery. Talk about a treat! I even have enough left to use again (or to just dunk my finger in for a quick, sweet tooth cure). Unfussy and low maintenance can be just as tasty as treats that require blow torches, fondant or woven pie crusts.
