With the snow piled high here in New York, my winter beauty routine is in full effect. Outside of the obvious head-to-toe moisturizer application after a hot shower (usually this one or this one), I love creating mini in-home spa moments after a long day. Whether it’s taking that few extra minutes to really treat my skin right before bed or applying these gel pads (after refrigerating them, of course!). Here are some of the best winter beauty products that I have on rotation at the moment, plus I polled my sister who is much more of a beauty guru than me. I would love to hear about your current faves too!
my musts:
Korres Wild Rose Brightening Oil: I love incorporating serums or oils into my nighttime routine. Something about it just seems so luxurious, not to mention how much more moisturizing and vibrant my skin feels in the AM. Since I’m a sucker for anything rose scented, this Korres one is a total win.
Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Cleanser: Speaking of scents, I’m obsessed with this foaming cucumer-scented cleanser by Thomas Roth. The fresh fragrance makes me feel so refreshed both in the morning and at night. Next up on my to-try list from this brand is their trio of facial masks. Talk about the ultimate in-home spa treatment…
Oribe Supershine Light Moisturizing Cream: If you’ve been following along here for a while, you’ll know that I naturally have really dark hair. While I love my blonde locks, my hair is definitely suffering a bit. I rarely dry my blow dry it, but when I do there are flyaways galore right down my part. If I work a tiny bit of this product through my hair, it makes all the difference.
Korres Wild Rose + Vitamin C Brightening Sleeping Facial: Again, you can’t go wrong with anything rose-scented in my mind. I put this thick, nourishing formula on after the rose serum just before bed and wake up with (almost) dewy skin.
Dermologica Solar Defense Booster: Full disclosure: I used to go to the tanning bed in college (gasp, I know…). To make up for it, I have taken on a strict sunscreen everyday policy in the last few years. This is one of the best and lightest formulas I’ve found. Apply between your moisturizer and your foundation.
Shiseido Express Smoothing Eye Mask: Consider these soothing, under eye gel pads the next all-star of your beauty stash. I keep mine in the fridge and toss them on when I’m doing my hair in the morning or at the end of a long day.
my sister’s musts:
Chanel Lotion Douceur: This is the best way to get all of the product off your face and truly clean your skin after a long day, especially if you’ve worn more make up than usual. Fun fact: it contains Tulip Tree Extract, which comes from trees that are planted in Central Park to help clean the city air. If it can do that, it can do anything.
First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Polish: This exfoliating product is sensitive-skin-friendly and contains ground coffee beans that wake up your skin (and hopefully you as well).
First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser: My sister wears cute specs daily, so her skin can sometimes be prone to breakouts on her cheeks. This cleanser removes dirt and makeup and leaves your skin feeling soft.
Chanel Hydra Beauty Créme Riche: The scent of Chanel’s moisturizers is straight from the heavens, and this richer formula stands up to winter dryness. The great news is that it works underneath your makeup, just as much as overnight, and a little goes a long way
MAC Prep + Prime Finishing Mist: This gem of a product sets your makeup and gives it a dewy finish, even if you tend to have dry skin in the colder temps. Just give it a spray, and you’re set for the day.
MAC Face Wipes: When you just can’t manage a lengthy bedtime routine, grab these easy yet effective makeup removing wipes. Finish with a heavy duty moisturizer and hit the hay.
First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads: File these under: a lazy girl’s best friend. These little triple threats exfoliate, tone and brighten your skin all in one swipe.
