As any New Yorker knows, there are times when you just need a break from the grind of the city—even if it’s just a quick weekend road trip. Chris and I recently hopped in a rental car (courtesy of Lexus!), and drove the two and a half hours to the Catskills in upstate New York.
We checked into the chicest hotel—Scribner’s Lodge—for a bit of après ski style relaxation. As a skiing virgin, I didn’t want to invest in all of the required gear at the end of the season, but I definitely want to head back and conquer the nearby Hunter Mountain next year. Scroll down for more highlights of our weekend at the lodge.
packing tip | This Andiamo Luggage carry-on is the perfect size for a quick weekend trip. It has great compartments for undergarments and accessories, and, quite impressively, I fit the 3 pairs of shoes inside that I insisted on bringing for this 48 hour journey.
eat, drink and be merry | The restaurant on the property, Prospect, is absolutely delicious, so make sure to book a reservation before you head to the hotel. These pancakes were kind of unbelievable.

lounge it out | The main living room within the lodge is one of the best common spaces in a hotel that I’ve ever stayed in. It was well equipped with games to play and cozy blankets, plus was in very close proximity to the bar. Bloody Mary and Scrabble, anyone?
gimme s’more | One of by favorite details about the property was the s’mores fire pit that they light every evening. Since I don’t encounter many campfires in NYC, this was a welcomed change of pace.
the details | We loved the rustic chic vibes of the rooms and the attention to detail went a long way in my book. You’re given a tote bag, s’mores kits and a couple of ciders to kick off your stay when you arrive. S’cute!
