Strawberry shortcake always reminds me of my grandpa for some reason. Not because he has ever made it for me, but because I can always count on him to share it with me. The combination of one of my favorite fruits and, of course, cake leaves no room for any sort of disappointment. After using this recipe, I was beyond satisfied with the subtle sweetness of the cake combined with the refreshing lemon whipped cream. Here’s to savoring the spring weather this weekend!
