I’ve been toying with the idea of crafting up a homemade pie for a while now. When I got my Harry & David pears in the mail, I finally gave it a go this past week with this recipe from Food Network. Now let me tell you, this was no piece of cake. The crust came out tasty and crumbly, and the apple and pear mixture had just the right amount of spice to remind me of the rapidly approaching holiday season. At the same time, the presentation of the pie was not quite on point. It was really difficult to place the top crust without breaking it. Practice makes perfect I guess, but this experience made me appreciate my favorite pies from Fresh Market even more than I already do!
