My most prominent memory of tie dye derives from every girly girl’s nightmare – field day. Each year teams of middle school girls dyed, glittered, fringed and beaded white t-shirts into masterpieces for a day at the races. Years later, tie dye has taken on a more sophisticated form, and I’m just happy that I don’t have to compete in the three-legged race in these heels.
