I’m absolutely in love with all things interior design and entertaining, so I’ve been sharing more of this passion lately on my Instagram and here on the blog. While I’m no expert, I truly love the feeling of having a cozy and refined space to live, work and play in. That’s why I was so excited when Capri Blue approached me to create an Oscars Viewing Party inspired by their new Gilded Muse collection. If you’re an Anthropologie candle fan like me, you will recognize this brand, but you may not know about this chic new art deco-inspired jar shape. Here, I’m sharing five easy tips for whipping up an elevated night on the couch for you an your friends.
1 – Girls gotta eat.
First and foremost, you and your guests need something to snack on while you judge the red carpet’s best and worst dressed. I love these zucchini fritters and loaded sweet potato skins by my girl Martha Stewart. Both recipes are easy to make and feel much healthier than my usual go-to for entertaining—a decadent cheese and charcuterie board.
2 – It’s lit.
I’ve mentioned this before here on a-listed, but there’s no easier way to make your apartment feel ready for hostess duties than lighting a candle or two. I am always on the hunt for candles with androgynous scents, because Chris hates anything sweetly scented (boys….*eye roll*). This Smoked Clove and Tamac scent is the perfect new addition to my collection and smells absolutely amazing. I love how the textured black exterior and oversized format bring a bit of drama to my coffee table.
3 – Put a bow on it.
Speaking of drama… I don’t know about you, but when I watch the celebs hit the red carpet looking impossibly chic, the last thing I want to wear is ratty old sweatpants. Taking a cue from the glamour of the candle, I slipped into a polished bow front blouse and my most comfortable high-waisted skinnies. Bare feet are the perfect finishing touch.
4 – In full bloom.
Fresh flowers can truly transform your space for entertaining. There’s no need to spend a lot on them either. These white roses are literally $15 from the deli near my apartment, and they dress up the coffee table for the occasion. Done and done.
5 – Pour up the good stuff.
No viewing party is complete without a great glass(es) of red. I have been hung up on this deliciously well-priced bottle lately—Bacchus Pinot Noir. It goes for $14.99 at the wine shop in our neighborhood, tastes amazing, and has a cute label to boot. A win, wine situation.
