In keeping with my 2016 fitness resolutions, I have developed an easy morning routine that leads to a much healthier day. I make my own smoothie, packed with chia seeds to keep me full until my mid-morning snack, plus pack a lunch and my fitness gear for the road. To me, the best workout gear is chic yet practical and motivates me to actually get to that after-work class. My latest obsession is matching sports bras and workout pants by cool-girl brand, Wear It To Heart. I wore this snakeskin camo set to Soul Cycle (and did you the favor of photographing the look before, not after class). Scroll down see my go-to weekday breakfast and lunch recipes, plus upgrade your workout gear with my round up of cute athleisure pieces.
round up: best workout gear
the recipe: easy fruit smoothie
the goods:
1 banana
frozen peaches, mango chunks and strawberries
chia seeds
mix it up:
Simply add banana and your favorite types of frozen fruit into a blender of your choice (I use the NutriBullet and highly recommend it!). Cover fruit with water or almond milk and blend. Once smooth, stir in a teaspoon of chia seeds and enjoy!
the recipe: portobello pizzas
the goods:
4 portobello mushroom caps
1 ball of mozzarella
3 tomatoes on the vine
seasoning: basil, garlic, salt, pepper and olive oil
bake it up:
Preheat oven to 425. Cut tomatoes and mozzarella into bite-sized pieces, and roughly chop basil. Create aluminum foil rings like this and lay mushrooms on top on a cookie sheet. This keeps them from getting soggy while baking (so genius!). Sprinkle each mushroom with olive oil and divide cheese, tomato and basil evenly onto each. Season with garlic, salt and pepper and bake for 12 minutes. I make this recipe on Sunday nights and pack one for lunch each day. So easy!
