There’s nothing quite like a fresh haul of flowers and a clean apartment to motivate me for a productive week. Luckily for me, my sister, the DIY Queen, has taught me a thing or two about how to arrange grocery store flowers into a beautiful, could-pass-for-a-florist bouquet. On Sunday, we picked up a bunch of flowers at Whole Foods and got to work.
For the occasion, I wore this grey sweater dress by A Piece Apart with a removable turtleneck (awesome, right?) with weekend-ready accessories and this tote bag that is changing my life. I can fit literally everything in it—from my workout clothes and snacks to my computer(s)—and it’s chic racing stripes work with any day-to-day look.

And now for the tips…
1. Chose two or three different types of flowers for a tall vase and don’t be afraid to mix colors and shapes. I chose a mix of white tulips, deep purple calla lilies and eucalyptus, and popped them in this marble vase.
2. For a shorter vase, I like to pack the arrangement tightly and use a monochromatic color scheme. For instance, the roses below. Pull all the leaves off, cut the stems to the exact same length and pack those babies in.
3. Saved the best for last: My sister’s wedding florist taught us that if you put a rose close your mouth and blow into it, it instantly opens the rose up. I couldn’t believe my eyes, so you must try this tip!
