As a self-proclaimed fashion nerd, I love following the paths of the best Creative Directors in the business. The men and women that shape the brands I love and covet most are not only creative geniuses, but provide so much inspiration for my own career. Not that I could ever design an iconic collection (or any collection for that matter), but their resolve and sheer talent is so inspiring and can be applied to any role from marketing (like me) to finance.
Lately I have been going through a transition in my own career, and have felt so inspired by Alessandro Michele—the man behind the recent rise of Gucci. The Italian star spent 11 years as an accessories designer at the brand and was on the brink of leaving the company when he was given the top spot. Since stepping into the spotlight, he has re-energized the brand with maximalist pieces that previously only lived in my dreams—like these amazing snake-embellished loafers. I received these as a gift for my birthday and will be channeling Alessandro’s brilliance every time I slip them on.
