I love the arrival of fall more than the turn of any other season. Cozy weekend getaways, crisp temperatures, less sweating, and next-level layering are just a few of the things that inspire me about this time of year. If you’re like me, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with the influx of new trends and pieces to buy and try, so I wanted to breakdown the five pieces that are at the top of my shopping list to make your prep for the season a bit more seamless.
1 – The Suit, Reimagined
If you’re limiting your wardrobe additions to a singular trend for the season, I say go for a chic suit. The historically all-business two piece is loosening up its buttons this season in cool-girl checks and bright colors. I’ve rounded up a few great options to try below—from designers and high street brands alike.
2 – The Patent Piece
I’ve always been a major advocate for adding a little texture to my wardrobe with anything leather. This season, I’m excited to wear the edgier, younger sister of the classic fabric—patent leather. I plan to wear this high-shine pant with sweaters and knits for day, and with a tank top and aforementioned suit jacket for a night out. I’ve also rounded up some chic skirts and jackets in the material for you to try, if that’s more your speed.
3 – The Fall Occasion Dress
Think bigger than the LBD this season, and slip into something with a metallic sheen instead. You can go all out extra with a embellished sandal, or dial it back with a simple nude heel. Either way, you can’t go wrong for any party, gala or wedding on your calendar.
4 – All Things Animal Print
While leopard print is essentially a neutral in my wardrobe at this point, I’m really excited to introduce other animalistic patterns into my repertoire this fall—like zebra, tiger and snake. I love the idea of combining different prints together for the ultimate risk taker approach.
5 – The Western Boot
Fashion is going West in a major way this fall. Everything from boots and shirts to dresses and denim are getting a touch of modern cowgirl flair. Personally, I’m most excited for the return of the western-inspired boot. From the moment I laid eyes on these at the Chloé show and these at Ganni, I was absolutely smitten. Luckily for you, I’ve found the perfect designer dupe for under $200 here, and rounded up a few others worth swooning over below.
