When everyone from Chloe to Stella McCartney presented cool-to-the-core silk bomber jackets with nature-inspired appliqués at their Resort 2016 showings, I was instantly obsessed with finding just the right imitation piece. Last week, I happened upon this dragon skirt and the price was right. In my eyes, a highly embellished, stand-out item isn’t worth the splurge, since I won’t be getting as many wears out of it as I would from a staple leather jacket or classic pump. This is a lesson I learned the hard way, after seeing way too many of my of-the-moment splurges relegated to the consign pile within a few short months.
