From splurging on a crazy pair of shoes to trying out a new hair color, I’ve always been a risk taker. This tendency dates back to childhood, but back then resulted in lots of bruises and scrapes. For my next daredevil attempt, I decided I want to go blonde, like platinum blonde, and am gradually lightening my locks to achieve the look. Here’s some inspiration from the blondes who have gone before me, plus some hair care tips I have picked up along the way to keep my tresses in tact.

The Products
Kerastase Resistance Therapiste Bain Shampoo and Soin Premier Therapiste Conditioner: This duo is keeping my hair from having that dry and brittle appearance that I’ve had in the past, with from a simple highlight. The conditioner is a heavy, restorative formula that actually goes on first before washing with the shampoo. My hair is noticeably healthier and has more lasting volume between washes.
Bumble and Bumble Tonic: This primer is filled with vitamins and herbs to further condition my hair before blow drying . As an added bonus, it smells like eucalyptus and wakes me up a bit in the morning.
Kerastase Elixir Ultime: Next, I work one pump of this elixir through my hair to moisturize my newly lightened locks. It makes my hair a bit shinier and protects from heat styling damage.
Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-Powder: A PSA for all my fellow dry shampoo lovers: this powder is absolutely amazing. I sprinkle it at my roots and blend on day two before touching up my curls, or even when my hair is clean to add a bit of texture. I typically only go two days between washes, but if things get a hectic this powder can extend my blowout for an extra day or so. Get it now!
