I’m so excited to share our living room and kitchen with you all after months of working on the space. After rug delays and slow furniture deliveries, I actually finally had the space ready to share with you right before the pandemic started, and wanted to wait until it was all over to share our space with you through professional photographs. Last week, I realized I might be waiting a while for that dream to become a reality so I decided to go ahead and show you around via photographs shot by yours truly (go easy on me!).
If you’ve been following along here for a while, you may know that we lucked up and found this place in November through our management company’s newsletter (see more about our move here). When this larger one-bedroom presented itself, we jumped on the opportunity to space out, and I love how we’ve been able to maximize the space by creating three distinct spaces within the main room—kitchen, living and dining room. Take a look around and stay tuned for our bedroom and bathroom reveal, right after Chris and I figure out how to hang a few paintings. Wish us luck!
Living Space
To create a space that feels zen and cozy, our living space is made up of mostly neutral furniture layered with a few bright pops of color. If it were up to Chris, everything in our apartment would be white and neutral, while my personal style is more maximalist. This room is a product of compromise between our styles, and I actually love how it turned out. I love the old factory beams in this space as well, and if you look closely, you’ll see that a former tenant nailed their initials into one of the beams. I love this extra touch of Brooklyn charm.

Entryway
Chris has always worked from home, so in our old apartment, he had this desk set up in our bedroom. He was so happy to relocate his “office” to another room in our new place, so we created this space near the entryway for him to work. I absolutely love this France & Sons chair that rounds out the space.
Kitchen
I’ll admit that the open shelving in the kitchen definitely limits storage space, but I do love having our wedding china and favorite glassware so easily accessible. The shelving definitely takes center stage in this space, followed by the island that we covered with white plywood to lighten up the space. It was originally the same color as the pantry on the left, which made the room feel so much heavier. Check out the before and after of the DIY project below!
Dining Area
Having space for a real, full-size dining table in our home was one of the most exciting moments of this move for me. I absolutely love to entertain (as seen here, here and here) and can’t wait to host more friends and family around this table when we can. We recently added this wall cabinet to the space as well to store all of the incoming baby outfits and gear. I’ll be sharing much more on that front as we go along in our pregnancy!

Hello, where is the light over the dining table from? I love it!
